What is period poverty?

Period poverty is defined as the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, sanitary conditions, and education regarding menstruation. It impacts those who cannot afford menstrual products, this issue leads to serious consequences. These consequences include social stigmas surrounding menstruation, health problems, and adverse effects on education and career life.

Menstruation impacts every part of a girl's life, and without adequate resources it is very hard for a girl to handle the stresses that arise from this. Period poverty affects people in different ways. Girls may have to  handcraft menstruation materials in dangerous ways that can affect their personal wellbeing and health. Others may miss school and career related activities, and feel weighed down and unmotivated due to social stigmas surrounding menstruation.

We hope to create a safe space for girls to educate themselves on menstruation, and understand how their bodies are working during a confusing time in their lives. We also hope to provide resources to girls worldwide, and motivate girls to believe in themselves. Hoping to have 1 to 1 interactions with girls, and impact as many communities as possible.
